SCARF is a volunteer-based organisation (incorporated association since 2005) that supports humanitarian refugees settling in the Illawarra by building a sense of belonging; promoting social & economic inclusion; and empowering individuals and families to lead independent lives. SCARF provides community-based support that promotes friendship, connection and social engagement for refugee individuals and families through all stages of their settlement experience.
Your SCARF membership will support the administration and running costs of SCARF so that we can continue delivering vital support services to refugee entrants starting a new life in the Illawarra. As a member you will:
Receive a monthly e-newsletter sharing stories of our volunteers and our community members from refugee backgrounds
Receive invitations to attend SCARF events
Be eligible to vote at SCARF annual general meetings
Be eligible to nominate for election to the Committee where you can provide direct strategic input and governance support.
Be part of a vibrant community committed to appreciating diversity, promoting social harmony and celebrating the positive contribution that people from refugee backgrounds make to our community and our country.
