6 week Bulky Goods Retail/Warehousing Program delivered by IllawarraYES.

IllawarraYES is working with local training providers to provide a work preparation program to prepare, train and trial potential bulky goods retail/warehousing people in the Illawarra area. This growing area includes retailers who employ stock placement and movement staff including Bunnings, Harvey Norman and Woolworths.

You will receive 5 units from the Certificate II Retail + Working Safely at Heights unit + Forklift licence and 2 weeks of work placement

Criteria:

  • This is open to all ages (18-24 preferred)
  • You need to be an Australian citizen, Permanent Resident or on a Humanitarian visa
  • You must no longer be at school
  • Participants will be assessed for suitability to complete forklift licence including age 18+, strong numeracy and literacy, attitude, attendance and ability to work safely.

Disability Pre-Employment Course

Disability Pre-Employment Course

Course starts 29 March 2021

The Disability Trust is offering a 9-week pre-employment or traineeship pathway as part of their Early Career Program. If you would like to start a career as a support worker in the disability sector Launch into Work is for you.

You will receive partial completion of Certificate III in Individual Support in 5 accredited TAFE units, training and skills and supervised work placements with an experienced mentor. You also might be placed in employment if you complete the program.

Important Dates

16 February 2021: Jobactive provider online session2 March 2021: Job seeker session
5 March 2021: Expression of interest closes
11 March 2021: Interviews
29 March 2021: 9-week course commences (4 days per week)

You must:

  • Be 19 years of age or above
  • Be available for the full duration of the 9-week course.
  • Be committed to completing course work and placement hour.
  • Be registered with a Jobactive, Transition to Work, or Parents Next provider.
  • Have a NDIS Worker Screening Check obtained.
  • Have a minimum P1 Provisional Drivers Licence.
  • Have a Working with Children Check obtained.
  • Want to support people to live as part of the community and share our values in all that you do.
  • Have at least level 2 English is required. You need to be an Australian citizen, Permanent Resident or on a Humanitarian visa.

Do you know how to prepare your home following a severe storm warning?

SCARF is hosting a workshop with the NSW State Emergency Service and Australian Red Cross to help community leaders and members learn about emergency warnings and learn about what you can do to keep you and your family safe.

Join us to learn about actions you can take to prepare for flood and storm emergencies.

We invite you to join us at Cringila Community Hall on Saturday 17th April at 9:30am to learn about actions you can take to prepare for flood and storm emergencies. Refreshments and lunch will be provided.

This workshop will be shared in Burmese, Karenni, Karen and Chin languages.

This event is now full. Please watch this space for the next round of volunteer inductions, that will happen September 2021. 

 

The NSW Service for the Treatment & Rehabilitation of Torture & Trauma Survivors (STARTTS) has been offering free training to SCARF volunteers for five years now. If you haven’t completed this incredibly valuable workshop before or you would like to have a refresher, we invite you to sign up!

The session will be run by an experienced STARTTS Trainer and covers:
1. The Complexity of the Refugee Experience
2. The Multilevel Impact of Torture & Trauma
3. Accidental Counselling and
4. Self-Care & Limits

It is FREE for SCARF volunteers to attend.

This will be an interactive session delivered online via Zoom. We would therefore love participants to join with video enabled. If this isn’t possible for you, please just let us know.
