Introducing ‘The More You Know’: A Collaborative Project Featuring Individuals in the SCARF Community

'The More You Know' project with SCARF and Bear Hunt Photography

To mark International Women’s Day, we launched an important storytelling project that we’ve been working on with Bear Hunt Photography and individuals in the SCARF Community called ‘The More You Know’.

‘The More You Know’ is a series of photo essays giving a platform to people from refugee backgrounds to share stories and anecdotes that are as full of life as they are.

Too often, we see narratives about people from refugee backgrounds that are one-dimensional. While we recognise that it’s impossible to capture the depth and complexity of a person in their totality, we’re hoping to share stories that are a little more expanded, diverse, and real.

In this first instalment of the project, we’re featuring three wonderful women: Narges, Masoumeh and Golsoum.

You can check out the photo essay here. We hope you enjoy getting to know these three as much as we did!

A heartfelt thanks is owed to Narges, Masoumeh and Golsoum for sharing their home and their stories for this project.

Bear Hunt Photography is the business of the Illawarra- based documentary photographer, Sarah Pulling. To read more about Sarah and see her work, visit her website.
